This market situated at center of the City is a historic building constructed at the time of Portuguese era around 1879. The said market is very famous market since from its build till now and is the Heart of Daman Municipal Council.

Daman is a tourist place. Most of the tourist from Vapi, Valsad, Silvassa, Surat, and Mumbai and nearby area visits Daman regularly.

This Talav is situated at ward no 14 at S.No 428 having approximate area of 9500 q.mt. In the heart of City. The said Talav is not developed / maintained properly till date.

"Daman Municipal Council was built in the 16th century during the rule of the Portuguese, by the order of D.C.-Da-Braganasa Portuguese hero who won the suppression and it was granted the status of municipality of the city of Evora in 1581 in Portugal. On 19 December 1961 after the liberation from the Portuguese rule for the first time in Daman, the municipal council was formed in 1970, since then elections are held and the chief selects all the councilors together."
